Adam and I went out on Saturday to the bars. So of course at some point the conversation moved to the band.
Originally, we were just planning on going to Courtside for a pitcher of Dos Equis. Well that is the worst bar that I've ever been in. They were out of both Dos Equis and Coors, so we both got pints of Bud Light and then got the hell out.
So we went to Casa Neuva, which is much more our vibe. I had a hard cider, and he had a Blue Moon. We sat at the bar, and he asked me what I thought the major weak point of the band is. I immediately responded that they for the most part lacked energy on stage. For instance, at the Baker show it would have been better if they had invited the audience up to the stage, instead of letting them sit down.
He agreed and reiterated that he would like it if the band could sound more diverse musically.
We had another round: two Pyramid Apricot Ales, which were quite good. We then started discussing the finer points of guitar design. I am a neophyte and prefer the look of a Gibson SG. Adam prefers the Les Paul because it was designed by a guitarist to be played.

I prefer a Fender Stratocaster or Jazzmaster for looks. Strat for playability. I've never played a Jazzmaster, so I can't comment on that. I played a Telecaster once and I loved it. I'm pretty much a Fender man. Though I do love the Gibson ES 355. And I'm a sucker for the Ampeg Dan Armstrong clear acryllic guitar. If I had to choose a number one, it'd be the Fender Strat.
That's all I've got for guitar design.
Well, the les paul preference was based on what the band had. (2 sg's a les paul and a metal guitar I can't name off the top of my head)
As things go, I love my tornado.
A man who knows his guitars and his beers? ..what a rarity! Next time you're at Casa, try the Pawpaw ale (I think it's an ale). Not only is it one of the best beers I've had in town, but it supports a local brewery. What's not to love?
